Home where I live,
There’s a sparrow call.
I give it all the scraps I have to give.
When it’s cold we wrap up warm,
And float downstream along the banks where we came before.
There my life’s so perfectly still,
And canal boats are free
From their tethers they shadow
The simple life I seek.
The Sun came down and we collapsed.
Between the long grass and the stars
Two acrobats.
But I had a feeling we would part.
And I, I couldn’t stay around you with a bleeding heart.
I recognise what changed in us but still I find it hard to grasp.
